Michigan???

I'll be leaving for Michigan in the middle of September for work. I'm wondering if it would be worth towing my boat? I'll be there a few weeks. Anyone ever fish the Michigan waters? Would it be good for eyes that time of year?

    Fin,

I fish the SW Michigan rivers.  At this time they are all at flood stage.  If they drop by mid Sept., I would fish the st joseph river.  Berrien Springs is a good spot for eyes but the people are a little crazy there.  I mean, if you get to close to them, they'll "show" you their handgun.  Down below berrien and upstream to niles would be ok too.  They are not so crazy there.

approx 20 years ago i fished the Kalamazoo River and it was excellent. boat was not needed but there were a few boats. tons of places to cast from shore. there was a wall that was/is approx. 10-15 steps high. you would take your turn casting towards the dam into the whitewater and working a drift. when each drift was done you would start all over again. the salmon fishing was excellent. is it still this way?
