Colorado trip

SO...
I had to do some work in Colorado, and of course I went out early and stayed late... with fly rods.

HIGHLIGHTS-
- I got the grand slam in the first 2 days (brookie, brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and the endangered greenback cutthroat). Kinda cool that there was a big article in the fly fisherman this month about greenbacks
- Fished alpine lakes in Rocky Mountain National Park completely alone. The greenbacks we taking 22 cream cadis every cast.
- Getting a Chevy trailblazer (rental) STUCK next to the Arkansas headwaters

LOWLIGHT
- rolling up the passenger window of the trailblazer on the tip of my 2wt on the 3rd day. But it felt good to still catch a lot of fish with a minor pocket knife/and asphalt rubbing modification

thought I'd share...Here are a few selects...

That's great!  The pictures are beautiful, and the greenbacks...well, congratulations.  The West sure is beautiful.  Thanks for sharing.

    KJH807,
Awsome pictures!  How far above Salida were you?   Used to go up in that area at least once a month many years ago.  Great fish too.  Did you do any fishing on the Arkansas down by Canon City?   Right below the prison there used to be some great fishing.   Makes me want to take a trip.

    Indsguiz,

I fished the Arkansas from Leadville to Buena Vista and then headed west to the dream stream section on the South Platte.  I also fished the South Cottonwood (outside of Buena Vista).  I didn't fare well on the Arkansas, but the Dream Stream was good (the pic of the big cut and the mtn and cloud pic).  Beside the cut I got a few small browns and a rainbow.  I could see a ton of BIG fish, but they were picky.  The Cottonwood was great for little brookies and great views.  I had just as much fun exploring as I did fishing.

I also spent about 4 days in RMNP, fishing the Thompson and hiking to various lakes for greenbacks.  I had the luck to see some elk and a bunch of mule deer.  There were even a few bucks still in velvet.  I had a few run-ins with ground squirrels who wanted my cliff bars and weren't shy about it.  I turned around at one point to find one playing look out on top of my pack with 2 little****ends sticking out.

great pics & the dream stream sure is a great place
to fish have been there 4 times in the last 5 years,
did you get to fish 11 mile canyon, I think it may
be better fishing than the dream stream, but they are
all great to fish glad you had a great trip
