best .... or should I say cheapest places to stay while fishing erie

well just wondering what some of the best(and best I mean cheapest) places there are to stay up in erie. most trips this year will be week day but one trip will be a weekend. last year we stayed at the flamingo, Wasnt bad for 29 a nite I think. And I was wondering would that be the cheapest place or with my  soon to be psa membership would there be a cheaper place?

What used to be the Best Western off of the Sterretania Exit used to be pretty good, Not fancy but pretty good with a free breakfast and all.  Don't  know how it is now or even if it is still a best western.  I discovered the nicer part of life in my "old Age" I like to stay at the Mariott Residence if they have any rooms.  But you can stay most other places for about 4-5 days for what one night at the Marriot will cost you.  Try the Best Western.  Plus it's close to Upper Elk and Folleys'.  It used to be called the Presque Isle Country Inn (I think)

Get a Hotel/Motel discount book at a rest stop.
Prices are often cheaper than AAA, AARP or Entertainment Card discounts.

PS: the Erie Entertainment book is filled with buy one get one and half price dining and other atractions coupons.
The 2008 should be out soon.

they dropped the "best western" chain.  Now just known as the "Presque isle country inn",   same owner as far as I know.

I was considering the tent for a while. heck last year the day before deer season it was 70 in erie so a tent would of been fine. I hope I can find that best western or pasque country inn.

    kyler,
Don't know where you are coming from but here are some directions:  Go North on 79, Turn West on 90, travel about 3 miles and get off at the Sterrettania exit.  Turn south and cross the bridge.  It's right there on your left. might not be a bad idea to call ahead for reservations.  Do a search for Erie PA, lodging.

I've stayed at the Presque Isle Country Inn a few times.  A PA Steelhead Association membership gets you a 10% discount.  The free breakfast is served about 30 minutes to an hour too late for those who want to be on the stream at first light.  Not the cheapest place to stay but the location is ideal for the west side tribs.

changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes....nothing remains quite the same

    why is everyone shouting??

There will be days when fishing is better than ones optimistic forecast, others when it is far worse. Either is a gain over just staying home.

The only time I stayed at the Best Western, our room was situated above the bar, which had a band, a very loud band.  So finally after last call, just when I thought sleep was going to be an option, they start throwing out the empty bottles (since the tap system was down, there were only bottles, and a darn lot of them) one at a time from the loading dock into the empty, metal dumpster.  Needless to say, I never went back.

The Presque Isle Inn is my chioce.  Tell them your a fisherman and you get a room with two beds for only $45 bux.  Me and my buddy both take one son apiece.  For around $12 per person, you can't go wrong.  The rooms are clean and it is right across the street from the Choo Choo Lounge at El Patio.  When I was much younger I stayed in my Truck or Van.  I really need to sleep in a bed and wake up to a clean crapper now that I'm getting older.

    Dunc,

I had the same experience. Seems like they were dumping bottles every fifteen minbutes, from 11pm - 3 am.

    kyler16,
Whereever you decide to stay better get reservations early.  There is a Youth Soccer Tournament that weekend in Erie.   Soccer =  Outdoor Hockey without the ice, or the fun, or the interest.
