Try pier fishing at Cherry Grove in N Myrtle
    http://www.cherrygrovepier.com/

or Springmaid Pier in S Myrtle.
    http://www.springmaidbeach.com/springmaid-pier.html

Buy fresh shrimp at one of the roadside stands, fish markets or grocery stores.

    Let me repeat
    FRESH SHRIMP.

It is what the locals use and sometimes it is the only thing working.
Blood worms are another good bait.
"Worm Bites" sometimes work-they are artificial worm strips.

I fished the Cherry Grove pier two weeks ago. Whiting and  sharks little ones at that were all I caught. Some feller brought in a 34 pound mackerel though. 1 dollar to walk on the pier and 16 dollars to fish all day rental. Use fresh shimp, I got shrimp in little river for 3.50 a pound an they were very nice, and tasty too. There are many charters around little river and calabash nc. Head boats, you can do a gulf stream on the hurricane fleet for 78 bucks leave at 7am and return at 6pm.
I was the only one on the pier with a noodle rod. LOL!  Broadway on the Beach is pretty cool. Liberty steak house brews their own beer, I recommend the double IPA, at four bucks a glass it's well worth it, not to mention it 10% abv.   The waves were small, so boogy boarding and surfing oppertunities were pretty limited.  But theres alway Golf or putt putt golf.  If you go to crabby dicks restauraunt there slogan is our food isn't crabby we are. And they mean it. Kinda funny to be treated like a waiter who really had a bad day and was taking it out on you.  Lots to do and see you should check out channel 33, its an information channel it may help.

I cant imagine I would find it funny to be treated like the waiter had a bad day and was taking it out on me.

Fished the spring maid pier about 3 weeks ago for two days.  NUTHIN!  Not for me, not for any of the locals, not for anybody.  There was some kind of King Mackeral Tourney going on at the end of the pier.  Nuthin.  $8.50 to get on the pier.  I'd go with the charter if you can afford it.
