If you were young, single, and rich, with plenty of time to fish, what would be your top 5 choices of species to fish for?

Mine:

1. atlantic salmon - New Brunswick
2. muskie - great lakes
3. striped bass - new england
4. steelhead - west coast, British Columbia
5. pike - Canada, Manitoba or Saskachewan

For me the 2 premier north american game fish that are the most challenging to catch, therefore offering the most rewarding experience are atlantic salmon and muskies.

Marlin in the Caribbean. As you said, must be rich.
Tarpon in Belize.
Tuna in west coast Costa Rica. Marlin again, too.
Meat fishing in southern Bahamas. Nothing like a freezer full of grouper and snapper to get through winter, but airlines are making this hard now.
Steelhead. Don't have to be rich.

1. Bluefin Tuna_ might as well try make recoup some of the money with most sought after highest paying fish per lb
2. Halibut- Alaska yum yum. Nothing like catching a monster and good eating for months.
3. Salmon- Alaska Chinook for big ones & fight and sockeyes to smoke and eat
4. Marlin fishing the Caribbean. Beer, sun and fun. Hook one for a nice workout.
5. Brown Trout - Nothing like a big fighting Brown on a noodle rod and 4lb test. Lake Ontario or Little Red River in Arkansas

I have several cousins in Prince Edward Island, Canada that fish Bluefins comercially with rod and reel. They get up to around $20/lb for the fish, gutted, head and tail off. The season is late summer/early fall. PEI, I believe still holds the world record, over 1400 lbs.

I had a chance to fish the queets but instead chose a feeder creek to the soleduck.
landed a native in the mid twentys. this was in 82'. went back a few years ago and again got stuck on the soleduck, just love that river.

I'll go PA and WV top 5, and places I love fishing for them

Steelhead, Erie
Largemouth, WV
Flatheads, 3 rivers
Hybrid stripers, 3 rivers and Arthur
Smallmouth, Susquehanna

Yough trout and smallies and Delaware River Stripers could also be in there.  Honestly all fish everywhere I've ever fished and the ones I have yet to try for are my favorites!  Never met a fish I didn't like.

Baby tarpon, St Thomas....the list could go on and on!
