Thinking about fishing the East Sandy Creek around Cranberry on the first day of trout. Got a camp in Kennerdell. Never fished it. Do they stock it heavy or is it more like the Sandy Creek. Stopped to look at it a few times looks good. What Ya'll Think.

The creek crosses under Rockland road. I think somewhere in that area. Or is there a better part of the creek. Thanks

East Sandy is pretty much fast water and very deep pools, lots of big rocks. It's also the slipperiest creek I've ever waded! Mostly brook trout. Can get very crowded right around the bridges but they drive the stock truck right down the bike trail and stock wherever accessible, also they float stock some areas. It's normally very, very cold as it runs through hemlock forest most of the length. I've fished it on the first day a few times, when my son was crippled up. Cabin owners at Mays Mills allowed me to park in their yard and there was a nice hole right behind the cabin. We always got fish, but it's kind of a tough creek to fish as it's so fast and deep.

I think where Bismuth is talking is a real nice area. The camps are on the right side of mays mill  road right after the bridge that cross's east sandy and if you park out on the road and walk back the camp owners don't mind. Several nice holes back there and there will be fish in all of them. I like the spot where the water or power line can't remeber exactly crosses over head The bridge area has alot of fish also.

Take Rockland road to left onto coal city and then a right on mays mill road right onto Mays mill and once you cross the bridge camps are on the right.

East Sandy is a great stream, but it's really tough walking if the water is cloudy or colored. It's full of big, weird shaped rocks, so don't just assume you can wade across anywhere. Some of the holes are amazingly deep.

Also, be aware that a few of the "camps" people have mentioned along Mays Mills road are NOT camps, they are homes. I know for a fact that a couple families have come close to posting the land because of the actions of a few slobs. DO NOT assume you can just park anywhere and walk through their yards without disrupting their lives.

Right on Egghead! Park on Slab Furnace Road, don't drive down the driveway, and  don't just wander through the yards. Every property owner I've ever talked to down there was very, very friendly and helpful but the houses are pretty close to the creek. The owners of a couple houses down there were very cooperative about me parking on their property when my son was sick, but they also had a couple run-ins with other people who didn't have permission to park there.

Yeah, those folks are very patient and I've told them how appreciative some of us are. If you see them, tell them the same.

I think it was two years ago, somebody parked in the one family's driveway on the Friday afternoon before the first day, set up a little blue tarp pavilion in their grass, and built a fire... in the middle of their driveway!!! The family's kids came home from school and walked right past the idiots, wondering what was going on. The father, more patient than I can comprehend, politely asked the idiots to leave, and then he cleaned up their make-shift camp.

Enjoy,

Unbelievable.  Stories like that make me wonder how people that stupid survive long enough to go camping.  How someone could think that is an appropriate spot to camp is just beyond me.
