They might make good bait. But they are a federal protected bird.

If you use domesticated ducklings to fish for muskies, you might be a redneck.

Its funny to think about doing it but doing it and posting it ,still kinda funny.

Im gonna try using kittens to catch coyotes. Dont worry the kitties are domesticated.

The ducklings work well if you tie dye them firetiger and put 3 or 4 splitshot around their tail feathers.(makes them swim like hell)

On the Susquehanna where I grew up, we used to witness ducklings disappearing once in a while.  We always assumed it was muskies.  One day, we caught a very large channel cat on a topwater, and when we cleaned it... there was a lump in the stomach.  You can guess, there was a baby duckling in the tummy.

I was watching two loons with young ones in Canada one year.  The younguns were learning to dive or fish or whatever and couldn't stay down as long as the adults.  The adults would come up and sit with thier heads in the water watching the little ones.  On the last dive for the two small ones, only one ever resurfaced.  One of those loons made one of the sicklyest calls I have ever heard....pretty cool.  Also saw a muskrat get taken in a bay once up there.

Anyone beside me ever have a duckling pick up a dry fly? Those babies scoot out from under the bank and grab the fly so fast you cant do squat. It is not fun removing a duck from a fly rod with the mother flogging you.

don't know about ducklings, but trolling young muskrats with leadcore on noodle rods is great for walleye.

never actually tied on a live duckling, but i've fished a fly pattern that imitates them for bass
i have fished baby snakes for bass and mice for bass and pike

i've had a loon take a streamer, a bat take a dry fly and have had both bass and pike get caught while i was bringing in a smaller one of their species

over the years i have seen turtles take ducks, muskie take ducks, muskrats and a small beaver (killed it but couldn't swallow it), bass take snakes, chipmunks and mice, and large brown trout take small field mice

kittens are better especially since they hate water  ( better action ) .

Small annoying children have worked best for me in the past when trolled at about 6mph.  Just enough to keep them on top and kickin.

I hear that . Especially the ones that like to throw rocks in the water they have the great action . The ones that help do yard work are protected though .

i use my sister-in-law for stink bait for cats at times.  just have her stand in the water and cast towards her as if she is structure.  man, she is one evil woman.

Rapala,

Nice technique , you might want to avoid noodling however.
