Status: online 		 Dogs pursuing, injuring or killing big game.
(a) General rule.- Except as provided in subsection (b), it is unlawful for any person to make use of a dog in any manner to hunt for or to take big game or to permit a dog owned, controlled or harbored by that person to pursue, harass, chase, scatter, injure or kill any big game.
(b) Exception.- It shall be lawful to make use of a dog to pursue, chase, scatter and track wild turkeys during the fall wild turkey season.



Was thinking of taking the dog and see what happens.
Anyone else try this yet?

Status: offline 		I saw it on TV once, Mika.  They used the dog to track and then scatter the birds...then called the dog back and set-up to call the birds back in.  Weird thing was they put their dog in a camo bag or burlap sack so he'd be covered up and not spook the birds. 

I don't know if I could get my lab to climb in a bag and lay motionless in the woods while calling in birds.  It would be fun though...but tough I'd imagine too.

Status: online 		Didn,t take the dog to camp. Glad I didn,t, had ticks all over me.
No birds where we hunted but locals said they were there?
Will take the pooch out behind the house to see what we can see.
Ya, I don,t think I could keep her under a camo bag niether.
She did a good job Thursday jumping two ringnecks for me.

Status: online 		Yeah, that whole dog in a bag thing may pose a hurdle. It defiantely will take ALOT of training. I was reading an article in the last NWTF magazine I received, the dogs mentioned in that article didn't go in a bag. They are brown and the handler had them trained to lie montionless beside him. Their color allowed them to blend in plus they were out and readily available to chase down a wounded bird if necessary.

As far as my hunt, I had birds around me, even had one land in a tree 20 yards away at 0730, it stayed there unti 0815 then pitched out and landed about 100 yards away. A short time later another flew down in the same area.
It was a wierd morning. Birds were scattered about the ridge and I heard 6 or so either fly down or jump limbs. Never heard one make a peep on the ground. I'm guessing they were adult birds and not in a rush to get together.....

After cutting wood till close to dark,
I took her for a walk behind the house.
She got real excited and wanted to go to the left , when I wanted to go to the right.
Allmost as fast as you could blink an eye she had a nice bearded bird in the air.
Me with no gun! Dummm.

Status: offline 		got a brown pup here that is about 12 weeks, been debatin wheather or not to train him on turkey.
