Get up there and clean it off -- that's all we just did and our signal is fine.  That heavy wet snow accumulates up on the dish and blocks the signal.  Should be fine if you can clean it off.  Haven't tried the silicone thing though... may have to try it.

not that it should make a difference but i have directv. i dont know if you live in a house, apt., etc... i had them put a pole in the ground($20 extra) and mount the dish on the pole. i did not want it on my house(didnt want them attatching it to my house and didnt want to have to climb up there if there was a problem). ive only had a problem with snow 1 time since i got it(whenever sunday ticket started) and i wiped it off and was fine. i have never sprayed anything on it.

Ive heard of spraying protectants on them like silicone or PAM. Anything that will bead water. ArmorAll spray wax, PAm cooking spray, RainX windshield spray. Try it! Id say the windshield spray from RainX would work best. I got rid of my dish ( sick of payment when nobody is ever home to even watch it) but when we had it, we installed it low enough that if we had to clean it off or mess with it we could. Its just one of the cons of that system, cable has its, and so does network TV. I know Im definitely not looking forward to network TV switching to digital. I have the converter hooked up already and I dont get near as many channels as I do in analog. If a channel was fuzzy at all in analog you wont get it at all in digital. Its all or nothing. I get 17 different channels in analog that are clear enough to watch and I get 15 channels in digital that are really only 5 different ones.

I've had Dish Network for the past 15 years. Never had many problems with snow sticking to my dish, after I sprayed it with WD40. Once or twice a year, I will have a momentary signal loss during a heavy thunderstorm. Having a DVR (digital video recorder) is the ticket. One should never let a TV control your schedule, unless it's a live sporting event (game).

Wash the dish with soap and water.
Car soap or dish detergent works fine.
Wax with car wax.
Snow sticks to the dirt and grime on a dish

If that is not enough install a cover or a dish heater

You might need to switch to one of the larger dishes if trees are a problem.
This is not a cure but it sometimes improves signal

I sold a few of them for a while.

Had Dish, then Direct TV and now back to Dish. Can't wait to go back to Direct TV. The only time I've lost service on either is during extremely heavy rain or snow and only momentarily. Since the onslaught of digital the Dish has been marginal. Consistent picture break down and pixellation. Service guy has been at my house as much as I have and he's replaced everything from receivers to dish components, really pi$$es my wife off so I'm not happy. If you have a choice go Direct TV. Don't settle for either one's first offer, they'll do better when pushed a little.

If your issue is with snow sticking, I would think that any of the suggested sprays would work. Just keep a pole handy and give it a wack when the snow builds up.

"give it a wack when the snow builds up"

Maybe you are knocking the satellite dish out of alignment.

Never had to "wack" mine, I live on the top of a hill, the wind takes care of cleaning the snow off my dish as well as raking my leaves, works out fairly well.
