I got a load of minnow scales on y noodle rod and not sure what to use to take them off. I did not want to use anything to smelly as it may affect performance on the streams. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

WD-40 or maybe bathroom cleaner?  Or try windex.

I clean my rods with windex (sprayed on a rag), and then polish them with pledge. It has really extended the life of my rods.

Hot water with some dawn mixed in. Use a toothbrush around the guides. Dry, spray rod w/Pledge and wipe down.  Fish.

Why?
That's a badge of honor! lol

A tooth brush and dishwashing soap works just fine! If that doesnt work than use a SOS pad (lightly)!

Try isopropyl alcohol. (Rubbing alcohol.) Its a mild degreaser, and evaporates quickly leaving no residue or smell to affect your fishing.

I just use my fingernail to scrape as many off as i can when they get to bad. Like mikeg said they are like a badge of honor. Any one who sees the rod will know you've been perchin or steelheadin.

I've been using Armor-all to clean my rods for years.  It also makes a great flyline cleaner.

Just a dumb question but why would you want to weigh a minnow anyway?  The scales would have to be tiny.  Are they digital or analog/spring.  Man and I thought fly fishermen were picky.

What has worked well for me is a little dish soap and one of those green scrub pads.  The key is not to scrub too hard.

I just had to go in the garage this morning and take a look at my perch rods.....

Well, I can use them as a distresss signal if I ever got stranded. Those things look like aluminum foil!!

I was told that armor-all is hard on a fly-line. I have been tempted to coat the line just for shoot-ability. It is slippery stuff...I put it on the seat of a Yamaha Banshee once............ONCE!!!

I had a kid clean my old F150 with vinyl floors and he put armor-all all over the floors! I almost broke my neck stepping into the truck!  lol

It was a grease pit for 2 weeks!

I have one flyline (Scientific Angler, 7 weight) that I've got about 200 uses on in the past two years and it still shoots like new.  The armor-all keeps it slick for about a dozen uses.

Leave them on, makes the rod look like a pro.
If not WD-40.
