I am an opptimist...
been up twice this month and caught nothing....
but I am confident I'll catch some this coming Thursday.
If I do, can I grill them streamside?
All guts, bones, etc will go into a garbage bag that is hauled out.
Any law against it?
I'll be using a small portable charcoal grill.. lemon, basil, salt & pepper...etc.
if you see us... say Hi.... we will be glad to always share!
Won't leave a trace of garbage...
Mike

I'd say that depends on who owns the property where you are fishing at the time.

From the PFBC web site Summary of regulations:

FIELD DRESSING AND DISPOSAL OF FISH – It is unlawful to possess a fish in any form or condition other than in the whole or having the entrails removed while on shore, along the waters of the Commonwealth, onboard a boat or on a dock, pier, launch area, or parking lot adjacent thereto. Fish may be processed fully if they are being prepared for immediate consumption on site. This does not apply to fish processed at a fish cleaning station officially recognized by the Commission or by a permitted charter boat/fishing guide operation.
It is unlawful to discard any fish carcass or parts thereof into the waters of the Commonwealth or upon any public or private lands contiguous to the waters unless disposal is on lands with permission from the landowner or it is where fish are properly disposed into suitable garbage or refuse collection systems or at an officially recognized fish cleaning station.

IT IS UNLAWFUL...

* * *

To build or tend open fires without permission.

glen gave new meaning to spot burn

i really wouldn't see a problem with cooking on the bank as long as... it's not a huge fire and is contained to a grill, and there's not a ton of people around to bother with the smoke or anything that would be associated with it

"fish may be processed fully if they are being prepared for immediate consumption on site."

Good luck trying to explain that to a fish warden.  I took a tailgate grill with me to the tribs once, and got fined for fileting a fish next to the stream.  When I brought up the quote above and said that I was planning on eating the fish immediately (this happened at lunch exactly 12 noon), the fish warden basically blew me off and told me that I could come back up to try and fight it if I wanted.  Ended up with an $80 fine, and I didn't feel like using a vacation day and wasting $50 worth of gas to drive up in the middle of the week to fight it.  I even told the **** hole that I had a garbage bag in my car for the carcass.  It's a shame that he fines me for that, after I witnessed several guys keeping snagged fish in the same area.

I would recommend taking fillets to the creek with you to cook, rather than processing a fish steam side.

No open fires too...
Better get land owner permission. Leaves are falling so one must watch the fire.

Alright then, what time is lunch?

It may or may not be the most expensive lunch you've ever prepared.

No, you cannot do this, period (unless on private property).

This will result in a fine...

Even gutting a fish is unlawful let alone cooking it streamside.

Hell I say go for it man.  I don't think there's anything wrong at all with cooking Steelhead or any other food along the streams.

I'm just saying though, don't cut up a fish next to the water even if your going to eat it right away.  They will fine you whether you were going to remove the carcass or not.
