Hello All!

I just spooled my Predsident reel with some Power Pro 10lb. test braided line. I never used braided line before and figured I would try it out for this coming steelhead season. Has anyone ever used this braided line for steelhead fishing at places such as Walnut, Elk, or any other creeks/streams? I also bought some Seaguer Grand Max Flurocarbon line in 4x weight. I was going to tie some of the fluro line to the braid but do not know what type of knot-to-knot to use. Has anyone ever done this and if so, what type of knot do you recommend when tieing the fluro line to the braid. I figured the fluro line would work better then just straight braid when it comes to invisibility means. Please let me know your suggestions. Thank you for your time.

Oh yea, if you think I should just stick with normal mono line. Let me know. I was going to try 6lb. McCoys Mean Green. By the way, I never been steelhead fishing. That is why I am asking these questions. Thanks again.

I use powerpro on most of my reels.
Look on the box or at the pamphlet for what knot to use.

this is only my second season coming up for steels so just telling ya what ive been through as of last year. fished strictly 6lb mccoys last year and had 0 problems with landing fish when I hooked them. great line so far for me. actually use it for all my topwater baits when bass fishing as well and have no beef with it.

I have been thinking of using the seagar 4x as tippet this year when water is clearer just to see if I increase my bites/hookups but I still think alot of it has to do with my drift and not the line but if I dont try I will wonder.

Either way u decide to go doesnt seem wrong to me though.

Have been practicing the uni to uni knot as well, just curious how well Ill be able to tie when the fingers are frozen.

good luck to ya.

Just use a Polamar knot to to connect a barrel swivel and then attach your fluro to the barrell swivel.

Your braid is fine till it gets below freezing temperatures. Then its a pain in the rear and i use another outfit. I assume power pro is like the other braids and holds water.

I use the smallest blackbird ? swivel i can find to connect flouro to the main line, but a back to back uni knot like mikeg shows works fine.

I've found the albero knot to have greater breaking strength than the uni. Go to stripersonline.com
