Status: offline 		I need my boat prepared for the season. Bought it at Gilette in Linesville and they do a good job but is a little far.  I live in New Castle area.

Anyone have a place they can recommend?

The zinks on the outdrive that help prevent rust on other parts.
Trim tabs are zink anodes that are a less noble metal and sacrifice themselves to galvanic reaction.
Other anodes are the white metal looking pucks or half balls.
Do not paint or they will not work.

This affects all boats with an outboard or I/O but is mainly a problem on boats stored in the water.

Status: offline 		I watched an old boozer launch his boat w/o the plug. it was great! he was screaming to his buddy to hurry and pull him up the ramp. the water was rushing in at an amazingly fast rate! beautiful....

Thats when if your real smart, you reach down and flip the switch for the $40 bilge pump that just saved your a$$.

Or you install the spare plug, that's chained to the transom for just such emergencies, from the inside, then flip the switch for the bilge pump.  Not that I know from experience or anything .

Status: offline 		It doesn't help if you only have one plug and no bilge pump. In which you drag the boat up on shore to drain it. Did it once with a jon boat.

Status: offline 		I once went the length of a very large no-wake zone at full throttle, after my buddy held the plug in his hand, and said "I hope this is the spare".

Your bilge is unlikely to be able to keep up with the plug out. If you have the power, you can open-er up, and suck the water out through the drain, and then quiickly install the plug.

Status: online 		In my pre bilge pump days I used to pull the plug at WOT all the time to drain the boat.  The look on a first timers face was always priceless.  And then having to hear them try and holler over the motor was even more fun!

Status: offline 		Took it to Gillettes as I had a weld breaking on the trailer they fixed and slowed the idle so it will now troll.  Fixed everything except that stupid plastic gas tank. I hate that thing.  You pull the line without the cap loose and you'll get sprayed with gas.
