I got a hard desicion to make for this weekend, go to Pymy for walleyes or to Arthur for crappies. I think I can catch some crappie at Arthur, but I am torn between the 2 choices. Any suggestions, I'm thinkning the lake (Arthur) is still alittle cold for the spots I usually do good for crappie in, I think I could still catch em, but not in any numbers. Thanks Jim

Sounds like you have some serious thinking to do...don't know if I've ever had to make a decision THAT big!

My apologies if i offended anyone...
I did put the little smiley face guy winking in there to show that I was just joking, but when we are hidden behind computers and one cannot see facial expressions or hear tones of voice, I guess things can be misunderstood.
I was just trying to make a joke.
Mea culpa.

FisherofMen, I think everyone knew you were joking. PLUS, there is absolutely no reason what so ever to be making sarcastic comments like that back to another poster that was just joking around, especially a comment about Jesus?

Fisherofmen, I apoligize for jumping on that one! I quess I'll have to lighten up! It's just that I have seen this site going down hill the last couple of years. New people ask a question or make a statement, and guy's give them some crap. Which I realize now that you were not! Good fish'n.

I wouldn't know from my own personal experience, but from what I've heard, I'd say the answer is neither.  I'd say go to Pymy for crappie.

Well, went to Arther, had a good day, lost a big crappie, my guess 14-15", wind had too much slack in my line. Buddy also lost a nice one, put 2 in the livewell in which we later turned loose.Got the usual bass, bluegill, perch, think me and my buddy lost 2 stripers, never did see them, but we jhad our minnows get hit at the same time 20' apart, and both lines took off like a freight train right into the brush pile we were fishing. fished with minnows and slip bobbers and 1/32 oz jigs with twisty tails in 3-8 FOW. beautiful morning, then the wind beat us up until we left at about 3pm. i do need to ask a question, anyone know anything about 4 stroke Mercury motors? 9.9 hp

I know if your looking to buy one, save yourself some money and buy a Tahotsu...All motors under 20 HP are the same exact motor made in the same factory.  $1700 including shipping online for a brand new 9.9HP.

If you find you have to take it in for repair, I would recommend Route 8 Marine (Glenshaw i think)...They have done all my work and do a great job for the cheapest price I have been able to find.

Thanks Zoom, I'm just trying to figure out something, I have always had 2 stroke motors and this 4 stroke does not seem to idle very high, so I'am thinking to myself that maybe I have a plugged filter or something, actually the boat and motor were winterized by Route 8 marine from the previous owner so I dont really think that anything is wrong with it, but like I said, this is my first 4 stroke. I wish I had a bigger motor, but the boat was immaculate and I did not want to pass it up. Thanks again.

Is it idling rough, or smoothly just at lower RPM's ( which would be normal for a 4 stroke VS 2 stroke )?

It is idling smooth, and quiet, just not fast. Like I said, it's just different and wanted to ask for opinions, dont want to miss a minute of crappie fishing when it gets hot! thanks
