If you are coming from the airport/clinton area there is a mini mart that usually has bait. I cant remember the name but its just up from the east park entrance.

It sits on the left side of the road about a mile or so from the entrance, can't miss it!

A buddy of mine got a new boat so we took it out fir the first run sunday, more or less just played around with the boat . I caught 1 rainbow down by the tower by the dam on a huss lure . It was funny i was just casting out & reeling in & it hit about 10 feet from the boat ,took a leap out of the water & then headed to the back of the boat by the motor (i was in the front). He yelled don't lose him my dad wants some trout to eat. The next thing i knew it took another leap & landed in the boat at my buddys feet, the lure came out & there  the fish was in the boat ....he looked at me and said now thats what i call service  LOL . I said let the poor guy go & we did . Then went up to the swimming area & caught a ton of small crappie.

Just for future reference the name of the little store that sells bait is called DJ's Quick Stop. They usually have a good variety of baits and minnows. I know the guys who owns it and he is a nice guy.

I did know that. I have caught several while fishing for bass. A couple of years ago there used to be a sweet weed growth up across from the beach and late evening in the summer they would just lay up on the top like big ass logs. Did real well on buzzbaits and zara spooks. I have even seen them in the spillway hanging around. There are some big muskies in Raccoon,  and there are some nice bass too. The trouble is cathcing them.......

Three years ago had a musky on for a good 2 min. Got it close enough to see, was well over 40" and fat. Then it just let go of the small gut hooked trout and cruised away ! Spend 3 consectutive days trowing big lures (trout patterns too) and did nothin but screw my shoulder up !!

The fish commission netted a 36 tiger musky , a lot of 3-4 lb large mouth bass  1 at 22"  5 lb & a lot of legal walleye.  I  was very surprised at some of the fish. There report will be on the commission web site when they are done with the study
