Well, just got back from Montana, and as always, makes me wish I still lived out there... Fished with my Dad for a while, which was absloutely the best, and the remainder of the trip was a "work" trip if you will, though I still got to fish a good deal.

Fished the Big Hole and the Beaverhead, both of which fished just fantastically... Water was perfect, temps ideal, and almost every fish was looking up (especially on the Big Hole.) Fished a few small spring creeks too, which is always a riot...

But it was the time with my pops that made the trip- again, if you've got the time and wherewithal to take a trip with your dad, you mum, or your kids, (hell, even your wife!) why not do it- as Mark Twain once famously said, "It's not the things we do in life that we most regret, but rather those things that we did not do..." Truer words have never been spoken. Enjoy the pics, and tight lines to all of you good folks!

Best pics I've seen in awhile.  That is definitely where I want to be.

Nice fish.
I know the feeling .Got back from a 2 week fishing trip to Colorado 10 days ago.
Spent every day --8 hours a day flyfishing.
Fished mostly the headwaters of the Colorado
on private land near Granby and had a ball.

Plenty of cooperative fish, mostly browns, with a few monsters thrown it.

I'll be driving through the Bighole in a couple weeks on my way to the Bitterroot. The Root is getting pretty busy these days but the Bighole always stays the same. Did you manage to have a beer at the Antler Saloon?

If any of you guys ever want a cheap dream trip let me know. The fishing is so good even a cave man could do it! I'd be glad to point you in the right direction for main river, back country stream, or lake fishing out there. Either on your own or with friends who are river guides doing wade or float trips. We could pack you in on the mules if you want a real western experience. Aside from tent camping you can rent back country cabins from the Forest Service.

As formerguide will tell you..... the fishing is only a third of the fun. The mountains, moose elk and deer, and the campfires can't be beat.

I'll be there for 4 1/2 months. With three elk tags, a deer and a bear tag to fill and unlimited grouse and trout it will be surf and turf every night! I won't start eating the rest of my Erie walleyes until Christmas when I get back. Good luck to all of you while on the water and thanks formerguide for getting me fired up.

Awesome.  Beautiful pics.  Nice fish and streams too.  That would be terrible to live out there.  All you would do is fish.  lol

The one bull with the big kickers out the sides went 385. That guy also has the #6 mountain lion.

My wife's muskie was 55 inches. She caught a 50.5 three hours earlier! My 54.5 this year came on the exact same date 7/2. I caught a 50 the next morning!

Fishing is so good and so easy that I don't bother taking a camera unless the neice and nephew are fishing. I have a 6 year old nephew who's caught 28-30 inch trout. At 4 he could cast dead center into a small circle at 50 yards! I could hardly believe my eyes! All he wants to do is fish fish fish. My brother is always too busy for his own good so I can't wait to take him out.

Hey former...I remember the Beaverhead being like a ride at Disney with a drift boat going by every five minutes

I was a nice river though, and so was the Bighole....only the levels were low last year.

We still managed a few

Beaverhead...

Big Hole...

You are a lucky b*stard....I'd be lucky to get all those trips in, in a lifetime.... I think my next big trip will either be Alaska or South America. I just have to get the wife to ear some extra $

If you don't mind, What do you do to be able to afford all of this, plus get
the time off to do it. Just wondering, cause I might start looking for a career change.
