This tread really doesn't tell me anything.  I don't know how much snow it takes for it to make the streams slushy.  I have never fished those conditions before.  I've only fished when either erie had no snow and temps were around 50-60 degrees and when many areas of the stream iced over in many areas.  I've never fished when snow was predicted, so this is really the question I am asking.  I already know the forcast, I can look that up.  I can't look up the current stream condition, so I thought that people that live there or who have fished these conditions could help.  I plan on making a 12 hour round trip drive for one day of fishing.

No...the creeks are fine as I type this!

The creeks will slush up on really cold nights with snow showers! However, on stronger flow periods they won't slush nearly as fast as the low flow days. Even in extreme cold snaps with heavy snow, most of the times the slush will burn off by lunch time.

After December I normally don't even go untill around 12. The slight rise in water temp, and the slush gone from the morning is when the bite will be best.

With the temps in the mid 20's at night, generally we you won't have too much trouble with slushy conditions! And if you do, than most of it will burn off before 10.

Hope this helps!
Good luck when you come!

There's your answer. That answer might change by morning though.

Sounds good.  This gives a better idea of what to expect.  I believe that I am gonig to be able to catch some fish somewhere, and most importantly, when I go I will then know exactly what the conditions on the stream are so in the future I can decide whether to go or not depending on the trends from the forcast.  It will never be exact but it will give me a better idea.  thanks again.  I would be open to any mlore suggestions or opinions?

Fished upper Elk this am, no slush, almost perfect color. That wind was bitter cold, though. All the roads seem to be in pretty good shape as of 2pm.

I'm not worried about the roads.  I am excited to fish ANYWHERE on the streams.  I say that because I went earlier this season and everyone was fishing the lower portions because the fish hadn't mover much.  A friend and I got skunked the first day, but then was able to fish the lake and it was a very crazy expereince.  One after another.  It seemed like it didn't matter what we threw at them.  What fishing in erie is all about.  I don't know the streams all too well yet, but I am learning.  There is one spot that I love but it is way on the upper uppper section of the stream.  I had one of my best expereinces with a few people there.

Thanks for the info, Mike.  It's a great help for us out of towners that have to make the trek up and back to catch these great fish.  My buddy and I will be heading up in the morning to the whiteout.  Can't wait!!
