Thanks for the post guys. Was up at the oak around the 10th thru the 13th, we knew we were early for the browns and there were only a few in the mix of salmon but couldn't manage to hookup any, want to get back  but its a 230 mile trip each way, so want to make sure the opportunities have improved before we head north. If you don't mind which one do you think is the better choice ?  The Oak or Burt ? Have only fished the Oak but have been to and walked part of Burt from the dam down to the steps for the parking lot. Thanks again and have a good season.

Just got back  from the Oak; very windy for 3 days and cold. Some Kings still alive and spawning, and the Browns were showing up; but not in any great numbers; yet. Some small steel-head were caught around me, but not any of size. Did land 3 Browns over 10 lbs. Had to put up with numb fingers,(don't like glove fishing) and limited sight-fishing to get them. Going back on Vets week-end to give it another go. Should be more Browns at that time; I hope.

Browns are not stacked up like last year at this time...The warm weather is my guess. I spent three days at Burt last week and the fishing was waaaaaaaay off. I also traveled about 230 miles but I loved every minute off it despite the less than stellar "catching". I put in 12 hour shifts and don't regret a second... I will be there next year or sooner for a shot of redemption. Last year we had 60 to 80 fish days with 5 guys. You take the good with the bad. That's fishing.

Once again thanks for all the reports,  gonna wait and hit it for a few days before I head to camp for Bear season in Pa. I really don't mindworking for them either but going that far I just like to know the opportunities are fair.

Anadromous ,   I see we travel the same distance,  where do you hail from ?

Are there any other tribs close to the Joke orchard.. Other than johnson and sandy.. I like the oak and all but it can bare a slight resembelance to the nut in erie.. Bringing a newbie up for his first trip.. What is the brown run looking like?? Any Kings still around?? I guess What is the overall verdict..

Was up last weekend and it was a little slow a few kings around Caught a few browns but not like past years. Maybe give it a week or so. Seems the heavy harvest is putting a hurting on the browns. Got into some steel though.

looking forward to a report. I am going to guess gin clear and stinky....with some steelies and growns around...but not too heavy

you should get yourelf a decent map and check out some streams to the east and west of there...instead of sitting on the oak the whole 3 days

Just got back from a couple days in New York, fished Burt.  Fishing was definately not as good as we have seen in past years. Water was low and clear, still quite a few salmon around. Browns seemed to show up in better numbers the second day. The morning bite was good but after 9-10 am, things really shut down. Tough fishing, a few guys fished the dam the second day with little to no success. The tressle seemed to produce the most fish consistently. We did end up with some browns but certainly not the numbers we have enjoyed in the past.  All in all a decent trip, weather held up well.  No snow like around here and temps in the 40's.  Talked to some other guys we ran in to from Ohio that fished Oak for a few days prior to us getting there and did well.  More water there, good luck on your trip.

I'm back;  Arrived home (Berlin Pa.) on Tues. evening after my 2nd. trip to the Oak. Much better weather this trip; and more Browns than the 1st. Not a huge amount of Browns; but enough to make me yearn for another trip ASAP. A few guys checked other tribs and pretty much had the same advice; stay at the Oak because the others were still a little low and very few fish were seen. It is raining now ; so that is subject to change. Had a few 1st. timers with us and the top keeper (fair hooked) was 13 lb. 4 oz. I had my biggest fish in the net but it was hooked under the chin; probably close to 15 lb. All told it was a great trip and worth the 6 and a half hour drive. In case you haven't heard; the Archery Club is not available to park after Sun. the 16th. because of some work on the road and parking area. The leaves were a pain for a while due to the flow thru the overflow channel on Mon. the 10 th. Cleared off on Tues. Good Luck.

Managed to land 8 browns in 2.5 days of fishing and lost alot more.  Water was beautiful thursday and friday and dropped and cleared saturday morning.  Alot of hook ups with steelhead and a pretty fair amount landed.  Salmon sacs were all i had luck with.  One of the guys with us got a 11.5lber..  She was a pig.  Late saturday morning the action stopped like someone flipped the switch.  The water cleared and dropped and people were coming out of the wood work.  We called it at 1 o clock and started drinking at the cottage.  Good trip by all means, everyone was very happy!

Cool.  Sounds like the numbers have picked up.  When I was there about a month ago, the quantity of fish were less than I have ever seen over the past years.

Definitley tough conditions up there recently. Fished on Sunday all day with very poor results. Fish just seemed far and few between in all locations I fished, including some smaller tribs.
