My dad and I waded a couple bays in and around Linesville on Friday.  We didn't do very good.  We didn't see many boaters doing that well either.

We caught about 5 or 6 largemouth bass, not of any size.  A couple small perch and crappie, no keepers.

I did have something big on that made my reel scream.  He spit the lure out before he broke water.  I think it was a big walleye or a small musky, but I guess it could have been a snagged carp.

Gave it a shot last night.  Caught a dozen crappies that were about the right size for an aquarium. SUCKED!

Fished in the Doggies walleye tourney on Saturday.  Good turnout (105 anglers) boated a grand total of 40 walleyes.  The top five teams weighed (measured) in their top 3 fish a piece.  We boated a grand total of 1 16" 'eye.  Not the same walleye fishery it was...

I dont know how that tournament works but do they release the fish back into the lake.  Maybe a dumb question.

No.  Fish were kept and cleaned for fish fry dinner for tourney participants.  Proceeds went to the animal shelter.

Slayer,

Look at the bright side, thats good news for the future.  Try Shenango, we've been getting some nice slabs now for about a week.  Get it while the gettin' is good, because you know as well as anyone that the "easy bite" don't last long!

port, both states have stocked, but have experienced a very high mortality rate.  pa is stocking fingerlings this year in the hopes that the population gets a boost.

ShutUpNFish,

Any suggestions on fishing Shenango. Never been down there personally, but from everything I read on these boards I think its worth a shot.

Slayer,

Anywhere you can find brush piles in about 4 FOW....move around until you find a good pod of fish.  I like the North end of the lake after you go under Rt. 846...the shoreline right of the island straight ahead.  Good Luck!
