I had to work opening day weekend so I missed the annual first day pilgrimage to fish the Loyalhanna Creek. I will be going up Friday for a belated opening day. Anybody having any luck up there? Any suggestions on hot flies or baits. My go to usually is the Black Bead head wooly bugger, anybody have any luck on this lately.
Can't wait till Friday.

Of all baits that worked well for me was green powerbait, idk why but the rainbows were really loving it over everything else, also minnows an waxworms produced and the hot lure was phobes. It was a nice color an flow Saturday and i'm probably gonna head up an fish it Sunday or 1 of the other creeks around Ligonier.

Can't decide whether I want to go fish the Loyalhanna this weekend or not. Its one of the best streams that I know, but I worry about the crowds. How many people do you guys think will be there on sunday?

I fished the lower end today alone and did well with the trout and smallies.  The smallmouth damn near ran me out of minnows, seems like they are starting to turn on real good.  Seen no one else in the entire strech.

Fishing was tough today (saturday), unless you were fishing for rock bass.
