What does everyone use to keep themselves in place out in PerchCity. Just got a new to me boat and the anchor that came with it was ok Sun. AM but when it kicked up it just wouldnt hold. Boat is a 23' Four Winns Cuddy. What holds the best on Erie's bottom?

The key is to have enough rope. The danforth style anchor is what you predominatly see on the lake. I bought a "Digger" anchor because you can release the flukes "supposedly" by jerking on the line which make the anchor easier to pull. The problem is that with 200' of rope out there is too much stretch to get the "jerk" to release the flukes. So, I would get a decent sized danforth style anchor and at least 250 - 300' of rope, or rode as the case may be. Keep in mind that the weight of the anchor is not as important as the surface area.

And add 6' ft of 3/8th" chain to really improve the holding power.

Adding a chain to the anchor will also help it dig in.
A heavy 4-10 ft length works great.
