I am looking at two lodges in Alaska to make my next trip. Searching for reviews of the lodges and the rivers fished. If you have been to either tell me what you thought.

Wildman Lake Lodge, on Ocean River, Alaskan Peninsula, {south of Bristol Bay and north of Aluetians}

Alaska Trophy Adventure Lodge, on Upper Alagnak River {braids section}

If you have been to either for Kings in July, on the flyrod, how was it?

Thanks

I have been to the Alagnak with A. Tropy Adventures, twice. Once in the middle of Aug. for kings, silvers and trout and once over the July 4th holiday for sockeye and trout. The kings were late and the first week of July did not work for catching kins that year.
If possible get in there the second week of July. The sockeye fishing should be fantastic and the king fishing should be the same.
11' 9/10 wt is about right for the kings. My buddy landed a 50 lb king (mid Aug trip) on an 8' 8 wt but it was a long battle. He fought the fish for about 30 min then handed the rod to the guide because his arms gave out. The guide fought the fish for about 15 min then my buddy took over again and landed the fish about 1o min later. We caught several kings even though the "season" was out for kings and we could not keep any.
The "jacks" are the ones that simply go crazy when you set the hook. We caught them when we were fishing for trout and a "jack" on a 5 wt rod is awesome.
The guides were excellant both trips. The food was outstanding both trips. The camp has a chef and a pastry chef and kitchen staff that do a great job.

I have to say Alaska Trophy Adventures....Charlie runs a nice place.

I like to go the end of summer for the Leapord Bows and Silvers. Take plenty of repel...the skeeters and no seeums will drive u nuts.
