I've been reading these forms for a few years now.I guess I'm more of a lurker than a contributer to the forms. It seems to me that this site has gone way down hill lately.Used to be if someone asked about good spots to fish you would get some helpfull information, not exact locations but pointed in the right way.Now you get 5 pages of people bashing you for being lazy and wanting spoonfeed. Some guys only get to fish 1 or 2 times a year and drive long distances, would it hurt to maybe PM them some info or is it more fun to slam and bash them?Used to be if a topic was started it stayed on topic with lots of input. Now it doesnt take long before 2 guys highjack it with a personal battle back and fort.It seems as though certin people wait for others to post just so they can start an argument.Maybe I'm wrong but it seems like a lot of the more helpfull good people are not posting much anymore.Lets get back to the way it was good helpfull information and less drama.............Just my .02    Mook

This is why everyone gets upset, because the same questions are being asked. I don't think it's not because they don't want to help you, it's because the past couple years Erie County and Erie have seen more tourists in this town for steel head fishing. (Not that I am complaining, because it's boosting the economy where I live) However, say you go to Walnut, you are fighting with 100 other men and women for a spot. And instead of just saying okay, I know there are fish in Walnut and I will walk it, someone is asking exactly where to go. If you see my point. Spot burning on here is a big NO NO. People get upset about it. I do understand when you come out of town and are more then an hour away you want to know what the weather is going to be like, and what the condition of the water is. This site has information pertaining to all of that. Including, water levels, live cams, and if you go to weather.com you can get the forcast for this area for the next 10 days. Not that they are always accurate, but, you can get a general idea. Also, this forum has a fishing report page, and that is usually helpful. I am also not trying to make anyone upset, but you have to see from the guys/gals that have been here for awhile hearing the same things. It's all about knowing where to look to find the information you need. And by finding that, and you still don't have a clue, then I would just go about asking in a different manner. Example - I have been researching weather and blah blah blah, but can anyone tell me if they are doing any good on Elk the past week, or something to that effect.

Basically you want to be spoonfed information but you dont want to ask for it yourself. If you are to lazy to go out and find the fish yourself, we are talking PA steelhead here so pretty much all you have to do is find the wet stuff, you really should have enough ambition to at least type the questions yourself.

There is plenty of good information on this board, you just have to know how to read it. This is usually how it goes down.

1. Somebody asks a question.
2. I answer the question, very bluntly at times.
3. Others come in and say the exact same thing I am saying but in a nicer more in depth way.
4. Jokers take it off topic.

Thats the way it goes and if you dont believe me just pay more attention. If you dont like the way things go around here stop lurking.

I've been lurkin and typing here for 9 years and I can tell you that the pressure the tribs get now is probably 400% greater now than it was back then. There will always be people who are real jerks whenever they can say things without having to look into another persons eyes. If you get to talk to some of these guys in person they can't even talk cause their psychotic meds prevent them from speaking well.

Put some miles on those boots like the rest of us. Once you get to the stream, we're all in the same situation. Doesn't matter if you can walk to the stream or if you have a 7 hour drive...

If you haven't noticed most of the guys who truly knew what was going on have stopped posting altogether.

The way I see it......The mods want them to come here, give out good info, and then leave.  Forget the camaraderie and fun times.  Just go to the lake, take pictures, come back and post it all so they can fish next to an additional 100 people the next day.  What incentive is there for someone to do that??????

Finally, the problem isn't that you came on and asked how far up the fish were.  It's that 5 minutes ago, someone else did.  15 minutes before that, same thing.  Why should they type out the info every time some idiot is too lazy to use the search feature?

Looks like you are from Erie, if I lived there, I would have walked every inch of those streams by now. Kinda hard to do when you dont really have a starting point. Trust me, its no fun making the trip of 3+ hours to find yourself walking for hours, like I have done, with little confidence in where you are walking or going to end up. But thats neither here, nor there. From the original post, I think most people could agree with him that there are many clowns on here that keep hijacking threads. His original comment of how the threads have gone downhill with people doing this is probably unarguably true. This is probably because of the increasing pressure and more people joining the threads. Anyway, for those of you who do give us people with the long drive information. Thank you

That's what the Admins probably would like but not the 100 people crowding out a spot the next day...Probably the incentive is putting a little  after the post

Angler maps on the home page, try them. I wasn't born with an internal map of the stream because I'm local, you know. The drive really is no reason for you to need information that locals don't receive. Check the weather forecast for Erie (can be done with a google search), check the reports page on here (not even useful sometimes), check the stream gauges (links available on this website), and maybe print off a few of the angler maps. None of that had anything to do with a longer drive. Am I right? I don't drive down to the creeks the day before a trip like you may think, and I still manage to find fish...

I do agree about the clowns though, most of which are just trying to revive old jokes about blue powerbait and youngguru.

I agree CP13, I have been trying to say that all along. Yes I am local, yes I know where the fish are, and yes I could go down the day before or even the hour before to see what's going on. However, I don't, just like out of towners. I do my research, and go down, and if there are to many people there, or no fish where I am, all I can say is walk up stream....(not towards the lake), as we all know the fish are swimming upwards.....it's simple. People are getting lazy. If you need help, just learn how to ask for it, and not ask how far up are the fish, and every other stupid question there is.  Honestly, calling the bait store for certain questions, like hows the creek look, might be a better option for all. I know I have done my share of calling the stores to ask. They have people coming in and out of there all day, and it's up to date information. People on here are willing to help, but you just have to learn how to ask for it. I have seen some people asking truly good questions, on hear for example - I heard this blah blah balh was good to use, what does everyone else think. That is defintely a good way to get the information you are looking for. Again Just my 02.

And I do agree about the clowns on here too, I have had my fun on here, but it's getting a little insane.

I dont see the problem with asking how far they are up. A respectful answer would be, "well I stopped at so and so, threw out a line and didnt see any fish blah blah blah"...whatever. Not "why dont you do some research, look around...check the weather...do you not see the streams are low...blah blah blah." Some people are just too testy. If you are tired of people asking the question, dont respond. You dont have to have an power trip. Like somebody said before, its easy to be hard behind a computer screen. OH, and ALOT of people dont have the time to sit infront of the screen and search and search and search some more through all of the BS that gets put into one thread, just like some comments already on this one. Whats the point. Take your inside jokes somewhere else. And really, I'm not trying to be rude. Some people do not have the time though. Going up to the Tribs are a very exciting thing, especially for somebody that may only be able to make the trip once or twice a year.

Im a little puzzled? If you've been a lurker for a few years now, you should have known why responses can get that way. Ofcourse the regulars get frustrated with guys like myself that dont post all year untill september and then clog the board with "where-when-what color".
And dont forget "how far up?"
Nobody can help that I live 291 miles away, except myself. I'm not gonna hold these board members responsible.
Learn how the weather works in Erie and go. This can easily be found archived in the boards.
Its funny how some people dont have the time to search, search, search, yet someone else is supposed to have the time to answer the same question, question, question.

Sorry, I didn't realize I was being "testy" in giving you advice to find fish without begging for information. I think you have the time to at least do the things I mentioned if you can rant and rave about not getting your way on an internet forum at 11 pm. I seriously just checked those 4 things, in under 5 minutes.

P.S. - sorry the members on here joke around, we'll get straight to the point of spoon feeding from now on so you don't have to spend time reading stuff that doesn't directly benefit you.

People don't mind helping you out, but people are asking EXACTLY where to go. And that is spot burning. And people are getting ****ed. I could tell you I walked half a mile up, and if the fish aren't there, are you going to turn around and walk back, or are you going to go and explore the next hole without asking someone. I also am not trying to be testy, but the past week on here, its more or less they want to know the coordinates of where the fish are.
