I read a post on the fishing reports page by HOCKEYHOOK17 stating that he lost $100 and asked for someone to do the right thing and return it. If someone did he would split it with them, Well guess what ? somebody found and returned it and now he made another post on the reports page stating he would send them $10.00.  Yes I broke the rules and left a non report post for him on the fishing reports page to direct him here.

He also responded to another post a gentleman had on the reports page regarding bringing a six year old along. His response was unbelievable, i hope it is allowed to remain long enough for all to read. Basically stated no place for kids on the streams screwing things up for guys like him. WOW !!

Please read his posts on the fishing Reports page 11/17, AND 11/19 and let me know your thoughts ..

Hockeyhook you are an incredibly ignorant human being who I hope i never have the opportunity to fish beside.

"BETTER TO BE THOUGHT A FOOL THAN TO OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT".     TRY TO REMEMBER THAT ONE HOCKEYHOOK.

If you are one of those people where all you care about is yourself, then yes a young kid on a crowded stream would be a inconvenience.
Grow up man, bringing a kid(s) along is great, there are too many people like you. Yes I like to catch fish, but I'd have and would again share my spot with a kid and help them out all I could.
One the other hand why would you say that you would split the $100 if someone returned it, then offer only 10% ? You said "do the right thing", but you didn't by only offering $10 ! Sounds like a flat out lie to me, but people that only care about themselves usually act like that, so you're par for the course.
You are a disgrace to the angling community !!!!!

Take a kid fishing....any age!  However, if you do, keep track of them and even spend the time with them and let them fish with your assistance.  I personally would not take my 5 year old up there because Iknow what he is capable of, but I do take him and my 3 year old to local ponds and on the boat with me.  I can't stand when some take there kids up and totally concentrate on fishing for themselves and let the kids run around unsupervised.  I do not blame the kid, but who is in charge.

As for the Hockey Dude....He talks about truth in his post, but his actions make him a true hypocrite and liar.

"KJH807"   Your right I should have left the name out of it and just asked the question in a different way.  Kinda new on here,  if I can edit it and make it more suitable let me know how.  But some things  just need to be said.   If I broke any rules my appologies. If this needs deleted then I understand.

this is the reason why I posted on another thread to have a stretch of stream for the kids to enjoy with their families. Its because of blowhards like that guy that I wouldnt bring my boys to experience the fishing.

I agree with the supervision, when I take my kids fishing, I plan on not fishing, just helping and encouraging them. This is their time, you will have plenty of your own. Also yes, don't bring a three year old along with you to Erie, but if a 5 or 6 year old can fish, BRING THEM ! I watched a kid in the chutes one day that couldn't have been over 6 with a flyrod just nailing them on every other cast for a few hours. His dad was upstream a litlle and the kid didn't need him. He could handle the fish just fine and landed a large % of them all on his own, he would switch up flies all by himself too. Now I know that kid was the exception, but if your assist a youngster and actually watch and help them, they will not interfer with other fisherman for the most part. Plus most NORMAL guys are glad to reel in their lines to let a kid fight a fish.
If you wanna bring a kid along please do, just don't let the creek be their babysitter so you can fish.

Were in the hell did you come up with this. Man looses a 100 dollar bill. Another man finds it. And returns it thinking 50/50 split and gets 10 dollars.
What a bunch of bullshit. I am just adding to the rubbish this makes no sense at all............

Kids Fishing ??? I have noticed that special events take place around steelhead fishing like the One Fly and Clean Up Day. Has there ever been a Get the Kids together for a Kids Steelhead fishing day ?

yes there has Crankmaster. I seem to recall a "Take a kid fishing" day and my memory is terrible but I think Genieman got a bunch of people together to donate rods for kids. someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

My boys loved to go fishing when they were younger and I rarely got a chance to fish in those days because I was constantly helping them.

I started taking my son to Erie Tribs when he was 6.  I always took extra clothes, boots etc..... We were at the old bridge above Rt.5 on 20 Mile he hooked into a large steelhead all the guys on the stream reeled in and watched him land the fish. When he got it in they all clapped for him and said great job. Quality sportsmen. He is now 22 and still loves to come to Erie with me and we can stop and have a cold one now with lunch.
Sunday I was on Elk there was a guy there with his 2 sons about 7 years old. One of the boys had a fish on a flyrod I stoped just to watch he did a great job while dad was grinning ear to ear taking pictures. Reminded me of 14 years ago when I got to spend this time with my son. HockeyKook you should be the one fishing in a farm pond. If you do have a son bring him up to Erie I'm sure myself and some of the other guy's on this board would be glad to take him under our wing and mentor him into a  fine sportsmen.

I wonder, Do they still have that day ? My 8yr old loves to fish, he's even out fished me on some nice crappie over at Shenango. He has no problem casting, lips the fish and takes the hook out himself, puts it on the stringer and cast out his Mr. Twister again. I take all 4 of my kids on the boat if the lakes calm enough. The other 3 never showed the interest for steel like my youngest though. I had him up on Elk last Sunday ! He was doing a great job, we just didnt have any luck.

hey some good came out of a bonehead like that.... By this I mean it got me out of reading the message board to actually participating. People like that just piss me off. I pray I never meet an ass like that when I have my son or cousin with me. I will pull his fishing vest over his head and show him what is really being landed. What kind of a miserable person would say such a thing? ASS!!!

In hind sight I apologize for my earlier remarks as that is not the spirit of Erie fishing. The comments I read really were ignorant and uncalled for just as my response was. I am going to retract my screen name and enter a more apporpriate one. By the way good luck to all and go try the smoked steelies at poor richards it is great. once again my apologies. See you on the stream.

I think its so funny that the hockeyhook guy hasnt said anything yet...he must feel like  a piece of $hit...

as far as wat he said on the reports page he did offer 50% of the reward...and he only giving 10 is pretty low...plus him hating about kids...i mean they are the future of our beloved sport...

i love when i see them lil guys on the stream i always let them reel in a fish...you gotta help em out..

Very well said.

One of my most memorable times with my son was the first time we went fishing together. He was 5. He caught an 18 inch rainbow, and won first prize in a company fishing contest. I've got a picture of that somewhere, but I don't need it.  The image is firmly embedded in my memory.

They grow up too quick, though, so treasure every minute you can spend
with them. My son is now, after switching jobs frequently for almost 10 years,a high school teacher in Colorado, and I've seen him once in the last two years.

Anyway, I still think this guy is a troll, but at least he precipitated a useful
discourse.

i find some of the reactions to his rant more disgraceful than the original comments he made...after all...two wrongs do not make a right

I guess this really wasn't anything of value for everyone to invest the time in reading.   I hope if he reads this he will realize that to most it's not the age of the fisherman that bothers people,  but rather the quality of the people like him we have to share our days on the streams with.
