ORIGINAL: ShutUpNFish Take a kid fishing....any age! However, if you do, keep track of them and even spend the time with them and let them fish with your assistance. I personally would not take my 5 year old up there because Iknow what he is capable of, but I do take him and my 3 year old to local ponds and on the boat with me. I can't stand when some take there kids up and totally concentrate on fishing for themselves and let the kids run around unsupervised. I do not blame the kid, but who is in charge. As for the Hockey Dude....He talks about truth in his post, but his actions make him a true hypocrite and liar. I agree with the supervision, when I take my kids fishing, I plan on not fishing, just helping and encouraging them. This is their time, you will have plenty of your own. Also yes, don't bring a three year old along with you to Erie, but if a 5 or 6 year old can fish, BRING THEM ! I watched a kid in the chutes one day that couldn't have been over 6 with a flyrod just nailing them on every other cast for a few hours. His dad was upstream a litlle and the kid didn't need him. He could handle the fish just fine and landed a large % of them all on his own, he would switch up flies all by himself too. Now I know that kid was the exception, but if your assist a youngster and actually watch and help them, they will not interfer with other fisherman for the most part. Plus most NORMAL guys are glad to reel in their lines to let a kid fight a fish. If you wanna bring a kid along please do, just don't let the creek be their babysitter so you can fish.
