I've been absent from fishing the 3 rivers for the last 6 years or so.  I'm excited to be moving home to the burgh area in the fall.  I've always bank fished for catfish in the rivers since a kid.  Now older and able to get around by boat I'm interested if there are any serious Flathead anglers out there?  If so how has the fishing been this summer?  Anyone able to consistenly catch large Flatheads on a regular basis from the 3 rivers?  How is the fishery?  Thanks for any replies in advance.  I'll soon be home to post some of my own local reports.

This is from last weekend.  First time fishing flatheads.  Beginners luck but i'll take it.  From the guys i talk to that fish them alot consistently catching big ones every trip just ain't something you will run into.  Like anywhere big fish roam they are in there you just gotta put time and effort into finding them.

38 inches 21 lbs

Not married and they are my lucky fishing pants so i can't get rid of them just yet until they rub off on some other pants.  Everybodys been making the comment about the crotch shot, most said they could do without out. I Don't blame them!!

I caught them the night before and they were around 18in long and a couple pounds.  They were too big to use whole and couldn't of kept them alive in the warmer water so decided to clean them and put them in the fridge.  The flathead guys told me cut bait had been out producing live bait this year.  They said its generally the other way around.  Worked for me.

Not to question your tactics, but............ If I can cast em I'll use em, preferrably live. My buddy and I consider hognose sukers in the 16  - 20 inch range to be ideal sized bait.
