The 7-Springs Brewski is on the 24th & 25; tickets and rooms were bought long ago – friends are coming in from out of state so I won't be able to make the outing.  http://www.7springs.com/page/calendars.detail/date/401/event/33.html

You guys planning on Van Meter again?  I'll contribute a case or two of Stoney's/Straub/Beam Rye to the cause.  I've been walking the river trail in metro Layton a couple times a week lately, the river's been looking beautiful.  I drowned a few worms on Saturday, caught one smallmouth.

Slippery,

I'm thinking 1 hour n 30 minutes, i can get to Cranberry in an hour using the turnpike, and that is not speeding, so add what it takes for you to get to Cranberry.

I am originally from West Newton and now I live in Chippewa Twp Beaver County. My travel time from there to West Newton, (which is further than Butler) is 1 hr 20 minutes via the turnpike. I exit the pike at the old exit 7 Irwin. If I was going to Van Meter I would probably go to old exit 8 New Stanton and go I-70 west to Rt-51.

I plugged Butler and Van Meter into google maps and came up with 69 miles and 1hr 26 min.

That's the first day of the youth Spring Gobbler hunt. No go for me.

I was looking forward to it, but my son wants to shoot a gobbler!

Thanks for the info! Hour and half doesn't seem to bad, like going to camp at Erie. As it is now, I don't have to work that Saturday, but I have a crap load of plants coming around that time and our bees are supposed to bee in then. How soon do you need to know whether one will be coming or not?

Best to take turnpike to Donegal exit and 711 south to Normaville turn left towards Ohiopyle. Once in Ohiopyle ask any local. If your going to tailraces you just go up sugarloaf to Confluence.

I just looked, you're correct! Why in the hell would the PGC schedule a youth turkey hunt on the first day of trout season!

I'll be turkey hunting the 25th, maybe after that I'll head down. Can you PM me directions from when I get off the turnpike?

May see you guys there!

Why would you make this on the first day of turkey?  You and old man Csonka need to out your heads together and come up with another date.

have you ever eaten a wild turkey compared to a store bought?

besides not to fond of a hunting season that some jag off nearly killed my father in because he "stocked" a calling bird

Ok?  So you don't like turkey hunting, don't bother me any.

You ever eat Van De Kamps?   Its delicious.

You have a month to get a turkey.  You get one day to drink Wild Turkey with Csonk.  Easy decision in my book.
