Just starting a new post on Arthur. Fished Sunday and caught a couple bass, also missed a couple too. You have to give them some time to take your bait , since they are not bitting to good. I thought I would post this picture of a nice day on the lake last year.

The original Arthur post is in direct competition with the Oxybob thread.  You can't just stop it!

That isn't your new boat, is it?  Your Dad showed me it from under the tarp.  That thing is pretty sweet.  I hope it is running good for you.  I hear the make of motor on it, is the fastest 20hp they make.

Congrats on the nice fish.

Oh, I see why you started a new thread....

Timmy, I got a nice bass yesterday by the beaver dam. The bite was slow. East wind is a tough bite.Crappies are still scattered.Fish are in transition mode towards the Spring bite. The water is rising on Muddy Creek arm. Should get better from here on out. Good luck this year. Now go do your homework and listen to your Dad!

I liked the other board.  It was a good way to compare the last couple of years.  Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get back to keeping track in the journal.  Dear diary...:)

I didn't understand what Smitt's reasoning was. Oxybob has about 61 pages and NHL about 38. He say's "No need for all these pages when most of it means nothing!" But, goes on to say "Great Stuff,  but needs a new and smaller thread!" Maybe there is an actual good reason for it???????????

It's all that Spoonchuckers fault!! When he posted that the Rockhouse was the hotspot for the BIGGGGG ones. My buddy & I hit it the other day with high hopes.Well him, I & the locals were ****ed that our honey hole was already thinned out .

When someone starts a new post on it just direct 'em to say pg. 17 or 22 or 7 or whatever on the old topic so the same ???'s won't have to pop up over & over.

Think out of the top 12-15 most viewed topics on Fishusa only 2 are about fishing & the other one is about CHUM????

Back to the drawlin' board again

Crappy

Gee, you'd have thought I closed the lake or something? Personaly I hate those long threads, always get off track and to much poop to wade through to find the good stuff. (I liken them to the 5 boxes of goodies you bought at an auction for $1, only to throw 95% of it in the garbage.) From reading other posts, I thought others felt the same?

I "thought" a new/fresh start/season was a good idea? You want the old thread back, I'll unlock it?

Chris,
Finally, I got one tonight.  It was 31 inches but really thin.  Must have been already spawned out.  Thanks for the tips and guidance.  I owe you one.  I'm planning on hitting it hard late next week.  Let me know if you want to meet up one evening.  Got my first mosquito bite of the year tonight as well.

Smitt, I really don't care. I just couldn't figure, why out of nowhere you would lock a thread that get's so much action. I was think'n maybe someone threw in some spot burning that I missed and you decided to shut it down. It just seemed odd. Good Fish'n

 Nice FATTY!!

Sorry for the edit but sortta thought I had to for good reasons this time of year if that is ok with you?
Is that your first for this close to home? Great way to start huh?? Told you, you were crazy wanting to go to Erie after them. I gave up years ago fishing that area this time of year because I could never get any to even look at what ever I offered live chubs, juicy fresh caught crawlers, gills, spinners, swimbaits & so on. Looks like she inhaled your lure purty good from the look of her. She would be nice next to your Brownie
Saw her about 4 days ago in that area but never took the rod out of the car

I'll have Timmy post the fish in May, O/k??
You gonna tell me your secret or not?? Timmy already told me what you got her on

  Porktown,

Great effort & good try , think Arthur could've hit 100,000 hits in no time.

Mike I'll give you a call early next week about heading out with you. I still owe you one for helping Greg & I clean up the lake last year & for the 2nd time you showed up. You are a super good young man with a bright future, I can tell just from being around you for that short time.

Oh yea, what ever you do, stay away from that insect repellent while fishing!!!!

Meatball1977,
Timmy loves the boat, THANKS!!!

Split Shot,

Thanks for the kind words but I would say maybe more like the King BS'ers of Arthur would be more fiting atleast for me

Crappy

Well went out several times so far and yesterday was by far my most productive because I finally caught fish. Caught several largemouths but nothing of size. I should say last year at this time was even less productive for me so I either got lucky or am finally doing something right. Felt really good to finally catch some fish though. What a diff. between my St. Croix vs my old ugly stick. The sensitivity of this rod is quite impressive. Saw some biggies out beyond my castability. Carp or Toothies? I dont know whether to call it boiling or porpoising but they were very visible and it was several bigger sized fish bunched together.Tried to lure em in but no takers whatever it was. Time is never on my side and had to leave well before I was ready but the ones I was able to land were caught on 3 inch shad swimbaits and the KVD sexy shad crankbait.

Steelys I think what you saw was a bunch of big shad. They have been boiling up for about a week or so. Last sunday was the first i have seen boiling up. I caught a couple the other day and used them for bait  and been seeing a quite a few dead floating  A friend caught a pike Wensday  and had about 100 yards of Black fishing line all rapped around it and a hook in his mouth. Looked just like what i use for ice-fishing. Pretty wild if that pike has been swiming around with all that line on him all that time! Unless someone was bait fishing  and was not paying attention and it ran all the line out. Either way some SHMUCK did not tie the line to the there spool!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We cut of all the line and let him go I think he made it. I diddn't see him floating we fished for a few hours after that  Dave

Seen a bunch of dead shad swimming around the lake. They are HUGE. No wonder Muskies are so tough to catch, after they eat one of them, the're good for a week.

Hey Dave I did notice all the shad boiling and even snagged one with my swimbait. Was about 7 inches long and couldnt wrap my hand around it. How big can they get? Was bummed cause I didnt have any hooks with me to chuck it back out for bait. I dont fish with live bait much so I wasnt even really sure that it was legal to do. Anyhow these fish I saw were much bigger. Much of their body would be floating above the water for several seconds and then they would disappear briefly and return again. Also there were several grouped together. I thought maybe some spawning activity possibly? What do you guys think?

Cool save with the pike. Wonder what that guy was thinking after that fished stripped his line off?

While wadein yesterday I sank deep enough in the mud to scare the he11 out of me.

STEELYS  I have seen shad up to 14-16 inches long and fat as heck.  They could have been carp i would think way to early for anything else to be boiling the surface. Yeah just looked in the boat and it was ice line  or  100LB fireline OHH  he was thinking WTF and then thought Daaaaa should have tied to the SPOOL .  The big shad make for great cat bait and yes it is legal to use them for bait. I even caught a striper the other day on one. It was like 12-14"long and the striper was only 22"

Hey Chriss; wanna give the "no luck" Erie a try with us sometime? The new water and a few fish can make it all the more better!
